My social confidence goes out of the window when hungover and sleep deprived

I've come home from a party which I was fairly chatty and confident at, almost unnaturally cocky. It was a nice feeling.
I'm now getting the comedown and want to go to bed. I don't feel very mentally sharp.

I couldn't go pull the same party night tomorrow as I did tonight, or even by the day after, and maybe the day after that. I feel so inferior because of it.

I have no idea why I struggle so much to hold engaging conversation when I've had less sleep. Well in general too sometimes but that's down to social anxiety. If someone can teach me how to ignore my physical desires or needs and improve my conversational ability as a result that'd be cool.

Does this make me weak? Is it normal to struggle to socialise when tired, do parties drain people, especially introverts?
I find I can do a party maybe once every three weeks and be extremely confident but after that like you said I feel drained and really can't cope with having more

Read the heading again but as a statement. The brain goes into shut down when it's been hit with too much alcohol or when deprived of sleep. Sleep is when the body gets rid of toxins so combining alcohol and no sleep is especially bad for you. The liver can only process one unit of alcohol per hour without you getting drunk. Drink less on a night out and get more sleep the night before and you'll be fine. Try not to have too many nights out either and you'll probably get on better

It's normal. I'm an introvert and the day after a night out I'm mentally and emotionally drained, I'm lucky if I leave the house! and that generally takes coaxing from friends

It's not fun when a hangover starts to set in and your still awake, just go to sleep
No, you're definitely not weak. It's very natural.

Are you me? I literally have to go and recharge for a while and not see anyone after a big event. Seem to get my energy from being on my own haha

Wait so this is a regular phenomenon and not a sign of weakness? :s-smilie:

This explains how I feel better than I could - anything seem familiar? It's not uncommon!, and it's not a weakness, it's just how we work

Ah thank you! I think one of my big problems is starting to not accept my being introverted, and with that lack of self-acceptance it turned into a state of depression and heightened social anxiety.
I wonder whether the whole 'alpha male' obsession I have going on is part and parcel of it
