GP Practise at uni?

This might be a really stupid question but what is the situation with your GP at uni? Is it recommended that you join at practice in your uni city or just stay with who you have at home?

You should join a practice at uni as soon as you can - you won't be able to travel home every time you need to see a GP! When you're a home, your old practice shouldn't have a problem with seeing you as a temporary patient.
You are recommended to sign up with a local GP at uni so that you can see them there. I have, but need to regularly go to get prescriptions from them so this made sense to me. Plus you may have to ask them to fill out a sick note for you if you're at uni and are off for a long period of time / can't take an exam etc.

If you go home for the holidays, you can still go to your old GPs but you will need to fill out a short 'temporary residency' form before you can see them again.
Most Uni's have a Uni Medical Centre and you are required to register there, or with another local GP. The advantage with the Uni's own doctors is that they are used to students/student issues and dealing with 'younger people'. They also provide mental health counselling, contraception advice etc etc.
