Anyone here been on roacctuane?

I'm starting in a few weeks but I want to know if it's really worth it and what side effects anyone has had? Thanks!
Hi!

I went on roaccutane last year. My parents were really worried after reading the full side effects leaflet, but I was certain I wanted to go on it, so I did. The acne does get worse for the first 2 weeks, but after that, it does noticeably change. A week from not seeing someone and they'd say they could notice the difference. Mine cleared after about 3 months, and I'm still spot free a year later

The only side effects I experienced were an aching back (a strange one that), chapped lips (always had to carry lip salve around with me) and dry skin. Those were a small price to pay for the wonders it did!

That's my experience of it, and I'd be really interested to hear how others and you get/have gotten along with it!

Ah okay, that makes me feel a little better, I just got kind of really worried when I read about the possible depression and also hair loss, because I wasn't sure how common those were as side effects, but thanks so much, I'll let you know how it goes

was on accutane last summer and I experienced the following
chapped lips
dry skin
extremely swollen finger which turned purple (had to be taken off accutane for 2 weeks to take these other tablets for it)
I was quite fragile and sensitive/got a bit suicidal (nothing extreme, just depressed for a bit and thought about it, never actually went for it)

the results, well the dermatologist didn't handle me properly, after my 6 months were up, I didn't even get checked for an appointment to see if they worked. Accutane did help a lot though, but I wasn't fully clear on the main spot bit (which was my back, my face was alright), I blame it on the fact my dosage was too small. I was on 40mg then lowered to 20 due to the swollen finger, I should of realistically been on 80, for my size and the amount of acne I did have.
But it generally means you're required to have a longer course giving it more chance to **** up your cholesterol.

Tomorrow is my four months of Roaccutane! I might be put onto one last month-My skin has no 'active spots' but a few tiny bumps! I'm SO happy with the results! I can't recommend the drug more. I have had really chapped lips, and a bad back, but as my derm said "Having skin affected enough to go onto the roaccutane treatment, you could be prone to depression anyway" Which is so true! I started on 30mg, then 40, then 50 and i'm currently on 60. Love the results.

My son was on Roaccutane aged 16, having tried all other options from the dermatologist; she put him on Roaccutane as a last resort, this involved a liver function test every month, and only one month's supply at a time. He was warned about side effects and very carefully monitored. Results were excellent after about 3 months and he is now 22 with good skin. Proper supervision from a specialist is essential.
