Well done  I've got an offer for Primary Education

Ah I've got an offer for this course too! Which specialism are you? I find it quite annoying how apparently we only have four choices for accomodation due to the 42 week year…

English, you? Ahhh no don't say that! I*rang up accomodation because I was confused whether to select new undergraduate or teacher training, and the woman on the phone told me to choose new undergraduate because she thought the 42 week thing was for the pgce students. I'm slightly concerned now, I've already sent off my accomodation application haha :/

Maths  Are you serious?!? I sent off my accomodation application with the 42 week choice which is pretty annoying because the halls I wanted to choose weren't an option! :/ I guess I'll have to phone up on Monday and see if I can change it to the undergraduate application…

It might be me that's wrong though because when I spoke to them, the woman sounded like she didn't have a clue what she was on about haha :frown:

ahh okay! I applied to mackinder and then stenton, but i've heard through other people that everyone gets their first choice if they get the grades so woohoo!

Not necessarily true. I over-exceeded my grades, applied on time for accommodation, but was given my 4th choice of halls.

That's not true at all, as the person before me said... last year, I applied as soon as the applications opened, I'm not from the UK so I've received my grades before everyone in the UK (in June), Reading was my firm, and I achieved my offer, and still I was given my second choice - I think that they try to give you the type of room you'd like to have, not a concrete hall, but it's not a 100% certain.

ah right! I've appied for the same hall in the same area (mackinder stenton and childs) as my first 3 so i should be ok with any of them :-)
Hi! I don't know what accomodation to pick and I'm a (to be) law student here... From this thread though, it seems that Stenton is a popular choice, but I still don't know!!

what exactly do you want? There is a wide range to choose from. I am actually also a to be law student this year and I choose a catetered ensuite hall because I do not fancy cooking and prefer my own bathroom. So my choice became Dunsden which is part of mackinder! It all depends on what you want.

Just to say to anyone doing a course around education I would recommend staying in either Wantage Hall (catered, big community atmosphere and not too large of a hall) or St. Georges (self catered and from what I have heard is good for different kinds of people - though this year was a lot of party people). This is due to the closeness to both the lectures (as you would study on the smaller campus) and main campus where everything else is. I know a number of people who study primary ed in both accommodations so either is okay.
