3D / Product Design - which are the best creative/practical courses?

I'm interested in applying for a degree in 3D / Product design but do not know exactly which area I want to specialize in. On my foundation I've done short projects involving introductions to prop and set design, automotive design, furniture design and architecture - can anyone who is on a good 3D course give me any feedback on it?
I'm looking for a broad 3D design course with a lot of practical work using various materials and with a wide range of broad based projects to help me narrow down before specialising later in the course. Any suggestions? thanks

the top unis for product design are brunel and loughborough

i go to brunel so i will always be biased, but here we complete rotations in the workshop, design process modules as well as technical modules covering electronics and mechanics so you learn how to make a fully functioning product. personally i love it here

if you want a lower down uni then youre looking at places such as nottingham trent, sheffield, de montfort...
