I did the beginners method like you until I could average about 50-60 seconds, then I moved on to CFOP. If you don't know, CFOP stands for

Cross
First 2 layers
Orientations of the last layer
Permutation of the last layer

I assume this is the one your friends uses as well.

I learned both methods( The beginner method and CFOP) by someone called Badmephiso - Both his website [http://badmephisto.com] and his youtube channel [http://www.youtube.com/badmephsito] have very good content on both methods. I also frequent the cubing subreddit which can be a good place for beginners to ask questions etc.

Just curious, where have you been learning from?

I googled it and found a pdf which i used. Worked fine. I'll get my current speed down then move onto CFOP.

Also, As i don't want to ruin the game in this thread, i reckon we should make a cubing thread. I need to learn all the language etc.
