I've never understood why people obsessively buy sports games year after year. "Oh look! Now you can see their breath when it's cold, wow! £35, please."

I spent a pretty fun weekend with my then boyfriend playing most of the Halo games. I enjoyed it but the 'story' missions weren't much to speak of and I don't think it would've been as good playing single player.

Also wondering why everyone is getting so hyped up about Bravely Default. I've played the demo, it was alright but nothing to go crazy over (and I'm a JRPG fan).

Call of duty I hate shooters except infamous
I don't consider people that just play CoD and Fifa as gamers.

The amount of people I've met that go on about how much they love playing games, and describe themselves as gamers is laughable tbh. To find out that they only actually play these two, and just buy the "new" one every year, it just seems a bit pointless to me.

CoD = Run around the same maps over and over again shooting 12 year olds.
Fifa = Run around a pitch over and over again scoring against 12 year olds.
Can't stand all these fantasy games where you go through levels using magic and ****. Shove your enchanted amulets and fairy dust up your arse...

Zombies mode on CoD Black Ops and W@W was brilliant, always provided edge-of-your-seat moments, rage, laughter and all the rest. Campaigns are decent. Multiplayer, though, is the most monotonous crap I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Same with FIFA tbf.

Yeah to be fair Zombies was alright whenever I played it round a friends. I'd soon get bored after 30 mins or so though.

Although I see where you're coming from, what about the professionals that make money playing these games? You can't really say that they aren't gamers when they're focussing on the game that they play professionally.

I don't get why a lot of people only play those two, though. It's boring to play the same game over and over. Especially when they're filled with as much bull**** as CoD & Fifa.
Fifa. Uh. Just the same game umptden times making £50 a year. You're all stupid.

I don't like Halo, I prefer pretty much every single other FPS series I've played, even perfect dark zero. The controls are just so floaty and the guns feel underpowered and inaccurate so it's just not that fun to play.

I also don't like fighting games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. To me they are pointless, like someone took a single component of a proper game (i.e. the fighting) and made THAT an entire game. I prefer something like Devil May Cry, God of War or the Batman games as they have combo based combat mechanics, but also story, exploration, puzzle solving, enemy variety...etc.

Fable, it just seemed **** after playing various Zelda or Elder Scrolls games, they just do that kind of thing so much better.

One vs One fighters came out eons before games like DMC took off. Maybe you're too young to remember that time though. It's about trying to outwit your opponent, calculating their every move and waiting for the right opportunity to unleash hell... or a light dragon punch at least.

I find most God of War style games to be quite bland, charmless and repetitive myself. I feel the same way about COD, BF and all the other war porn out there.
Animal Crossing - ugh, such vacuous horse crap.
Guitar Hero - when are rhythm-action games going to move on from this junk. Someone bring back Parappa to PS4.
Most the recent MMORPG's - they're all too similar now. We need something fresh and we need it fast.

QWOP. Got a love/hate relationship for that game lol
Red Dead Redemption... I'm the only person I've met that found it a bit boring. Maybe it's because it kept crashing for me

For the record, I love RPGs though and am a big fan of Skyrim, Fallout etc.

Get them to play any other multiplayer game and they'll get massacred.
Minecraft and Terraria mostly.

I found it a bit boring too, and I'm a massive Rockstar Games fanboy. It just felt like a limited version of GTA. It had a decent story, a great world, an amazing atmosphere, and in general it had the usual R* charm of feeling well put together, but utlimately, cowboys and horses get old pretty fast.

Bioshock. Its an FPS that's rubbish at being an FPS.

Thank god someone agrees
Far Cry 3 for me. I thought it was 'OK' but people had raved to me about it, and although I liked elements, I just thought it was trying to be smarter than it is.

Far Cry 3 was pretty bad tbh. Just go here collect this, swim here shoot them rinse and repeat with the missions themselves being largely the same.

Skyrim is nothing but a content-barren casualized RPG. Disgustingly bad. Although with mods it becomes somewhat good.
CoD was bad after MW1.
Terraria is a terrible game. If you like these games, look at Starbound, which actually has content.
FIFA is the same game it was 4 years ago.
Gone Home does not even count as a game in my book. Nothing but a walking simulator.
Arma III is a bug filled mess.
DayZ is mediocre as best. It has some really cool mechanics, but the community is horrible. You either die being kind, or live long enough to be a serial killer.
Total War 2 is a horrible mess.
Assassins Creed after revelations were really boring.
The Stanley Parable too is nothing but an interactive movie.
Indie games in general are really bad and overhyped. However, there are a few indie games that are absolutely amazing.
Any game that tries too hard (and fails) to be emotional and feely is bad.
Bioshock Infinite was mediocre at best.
