    Tax!!!
    Hey guys, just finished first year at college - done a bit of second year (so full time education...)

    im in a new job earning around £9,000 a year and im just wondering wether i have to pay income tax or not (because im in full time education!)

    HEEEELPPP me please

    You pay Income Tax on:

    * your wages if you're employed

    This tax year (2006-2007), the basic personal allowance - or tax-free amount - is £5,035.
    Income Tax is only due on taxable income that’s above your tax-free allowances.

    You will earn £3,065 more than the non taxable income for 2006-2007 tax year, so you will have to pay £416.30 by my reckoning.
