guuuyssss!!!!!
:cry2:
Please, can anybody help me to choose where is better to do MA in Comp Lit? Goldsmiths or Queen Mary?
I’m completely lost. I got a conditional offer from Goldsmiths and unconditional from QMUL. There is no time left to reply.
I'm applying from abroad, so I know nothing about them both and it's a HUGE effort for me to study in uk so i really want to choose wisely. I've read too many stuff online, asked lots of people on tumblr and it made me even more confused.
They say goldsmiths is more artsy type and qmul is all about science and only good for medicine, also i still can't get which one is in a better area (looks like they both are not??).
I'm an art critic and sort of nerd, so i'm looking for something academically advantageous, my studies and career perspectives are really important to me.
nobody replying to me :frown:

Hi epine,

I guess I'm in the same situation as you... I applied for MAs in Literature and got offers from Goldsmiths and Queen Mary. (I applied to Birkbeck as well but they haven't replied yet). Thinking now which one to choose... Have you made up your mind yet?

Completely unbiasedly I would say Goldsmiths is indeed a very artsy and creative university, but Queen Mary is also ranked highly for social sciences and humanities subjects such as English and Comparative Literature studies. Out of the two, I would probably say Queen Mary is regarded more highly in terms of its rank and reputation and it is a Russell Group uni. In terms of the areas, QM is in Mile End, which is a bit run down, but it's also very close to central London and it's in a very diverse and interesting area (East London.) Not too sure where Goldsmiths is to be honest. Hope you like studying in England!
hi Laura,

thanks, that helps! I'm also more inclined to choose Queen Mary.
I'm actually coming to London tomorrow to visit the Unis and make a final decision. do you know anything about Birkbeck? it doesn't always show up in the rankings, but when it does it appears at a decent place as well.

Yay  When I say I'm unbiased, I have firmed Queen Mary myself, but I also applied to Goldsmiths and I don't have any strong opinions. I believe Birkbeck is a good institution, but I think it specialises more in part-time and evening studying as opposed to full-time education like Queen Mary and Goldsmiths - the reason it often isn't on league tables is because they base their statistics on full-time students.

Hey!
I have received an unconditional offer and will be starting in September. What about you?

I want to apply for QM comparative literature course do you have any tips for a personal statement as I have decided to start all over again, how did you structure it and how did you bring in literary and cultural issues. Any help you could provide I will happy to hear about.

I would like this too. Im applying for CL with Film and Eng Lit with Film at QM. Im getting frustrated writing the PS as I cant decide the amount of character to give to each. Im interested in Eng Lit and Comparative Literture and really dont have a preference.
Any advice would be great
