MP's in uproar subsidised cup of tea goes up 5 pence

Price of tea which is already heavily subsidised by taxpayer increases from 65-70 pence which is still around half of that the public generally pay and MP's are outraged:eek:

How out of touch can they be and it led to a very heated debate in Parliament

Considering they are some of the richest earners in the country, a high proportion are millionaires and most have well paying 2nd jobs on top why should be subsidise them at all

Were they piad for their time whilst debating this very important issue?

Yeah this 'uproar' amounts to no more than the price of tea being mentioned in the House. There's no suggestion that MPs were upset in any specific way - the Mail are hyping it up.

And aside from that, yes, MPs may get plentiful wages, but they are also considering the cost to the staff of the House, many of which get paid not much higher than minimum wage. That's a fair comment to make when discussing price increases.
