The Student Room Group

Are my views left or right wing?

I believe the state should be limited, and individual choice and freedom should reign

I believe the free market is far better than a command economy (fairly obvious this one)

I am against over-zealous spying by NSA and GCHQ

I am against the 50p tax rate. I want business rates to be frozen

I am for gay-marriage

I am a Eurosceptic

I want to limit welfare spending

I want better vocational training. I also want a diversification of the economy to include areas other than London and the SE

I am against a price freeze on energy companies prices

I am pro grammar schools

I believe that the state can run certain things better than the private sector, when enough competition cannot be introduced

I want to raise the minimum wage in real terms

Oh, and capping bankers' bonuses is a policy for idiots

An interesting site to help with that very question is: www.politicalcompass.org

Not only does it sort out your politics it also compares you with the politics of famous leaders. Very cool!

Let us know where you end up.
You are David Cameron.

Mostly libertarian with a conservative streak.

Some Tory and Lib Mps are closest to you, neither party leadership though.

You are, it seems, in favour of creating 'money from thin air. The banks create it.....for the socialists to spend. So it seems you are, most definitely, left wing.

If you advocate only spending what honest money is available you are right wing.

If you advocate spending money created from thin air, thereby increasing costs for future generations, you are left wing.

If you think, correctly, you will never be able to afford a home of your own, thank the left wing money creators for house price inflation.

Your like me, a new bread of Libertarian Conservative-ish.

The guy above, creating money from thin air? I assume this is a jibe at fiat currency. How would it be possible to tie money to gold once again, how would we go back to that?

This persons views are certainly not left wing. I was thinking raging Libertarian with a bit of Conservatism.

It's industry that creates money, not the banks
