Why are the biggest pricks in football the most liked?

Love the stories about Messi bullying his team-mates. Mainly because it's funny in my head when I imagine the situation.

Mario Balotelli. He's funny and I guess one of the most controversial one. I remember he put his house on fire while at Manchester City !

The article you've linked concedes that "The story remains firmly in the ‘unconfirmed’ bracket"

I think it's fair to say that Ronaldo has done a lot more in terms of being a tosser than Messi (and I'm not sure what the hell Messi's appearance has to do with whether he's a dick or not):

Ediit: In fact Messi sums up the reason why I hate FC Barcelona so much, everything thinks they're the good guys they are poor victims of Spain's fascist oppression, they have UNICEF on their shirts, but it's all bull**** really.

Funny that cos Ronaldo pretty much sums up why I hate Real Madrid.

Mourinho probably set that page up and has hired someone to publicize it knowing him...Surprised he isnt on instagram yet posting selfies of himself giving team talks. Would call it @specialone probably.

Thing about Mourinho as well is that he is a relentless self-publicist. ''IT'S ALL ABOUT ME!!!'' . When you see him interupting David Luiz's press conferences or sliding on his knees etc, he just wants to be the centre of attention. Whereas someone like Wenger is as low key as it gets. Remember reading Henry saying AW had to have the EPL trophy literally forces into his hands during title celebrations for example. Most of the facebook likes will be from 11 year olds who see Mourinho eye gauging Villanova or calling Wenger a pervert in his press conferences and think that's cool when its actual the behaviour of a piece of ****.

Genuinely enraged to see MOTD mocking Wenger for slipping last week though and then to see Lineker flirting with Mourinho in his interview. That sums up the sycophantic attitude of the British press to Mourinho.

Saying that, I agree with your edit. Barca and their holier than thou 'Mes Que Un Club' thing is a bit embarrassing to be fair.

I don't mind that club motto but I'd probably think of Athletic when I hear that - Basque nationalists and all. I remember when Barcelona outlawed bull fighting and it had sod all to do with animal welfare, it was purely an anti-Madrid statement. At least the Basques have made a concerted effort against oppressive Spain in the past.
