Quick Probability query

Hi,

Could anyone tell me the difference between:

Mutually exclusive events
Independent events
Conditional probability

Is one the opposite of another?

Mutually exclusive events are events that cannot happen together e.g. Flipping a coin and getting heads/tails

Independent events are events where one does not affect the other e.g. The probability of someone doing their maths homework and someone dying

Conditional probability is when you are expected to find the probability of something given another thing has already happened, e.g. the probability someone will do their maths homework GIVEN they have done their science work.

So is mutually exclusive events, independent events and conditional probability not related to eachother? e.g.. mutually exclusive events are the opposite to independent events

Or are they totally different things?

Thanks,

Nope, they are all different things. Independent and mutually exclusive relate to events and how they take place, whereas conditional probability is the probability of events.
