Discourse Analysis: Help needed!

Hi there :-)

I'm a first year Psychology student who has been set some tricky coursework on Discourse Analysis. However, I cant see to wrap my head around it fully, despite re-reading all handouts given, extra meetings with my lecturer & qualitative data books from the library!

Could someone please run it by me in a simple, easy to understand manner?

From what I gather, it's quite similar to English Language (something I did at AS level) whenc categorising texts, but, I dont want to get the wrong end of the stick & completely misunderstand my task.

Any help would be VERY appreciated!

Sorry, I hadn't seen that you'd replied! I've since handed in the coursework - just kind of muddled along and hoped for the best. I can't specifically pinpoint exactly which bit I was unsure about as to be honest, I wasn't entirely confident with the whole idea of it.
We've just started Conversation Analysis, and I'm not keen on that either, haha! Looks like qualitative data wont be my strong point....
