Counselling and Psychotherapy Telephone interview

Hi, I have had an email from the university of salford saying that they would like to arrange a telephone interview with me. Does anybody know what kind of questions they will ask? The email said it will be about my personal experience, interest in being a counsellor and my own process of personal development.

My friend applied for the same course at Salford, and Itwas just the usual questions like why this course why Salford etc.. Keep apiece of paper with everything written in front of you it will literally be 5 mins my friend got anoffer a week later and a few weeks later they changed it to an unconditionaloffer! Good luck I’m sure you’ll do great! xx

Good luck! Nothing to be worried about go somewhere quiet okay and everything will be time show off you're talking skills because that's how they will judge you x

Hi how did it go ? Im thinking of applying for next year any information would be helpful x
I have a telephone interview on Monday morning at Salford University for psychotherapy and counselling BSC course. This thread is a few years old so I was wondering i anyone had any recent experience or tips on what sort of questions they ask and what they're looking for.I'm a mature student so don't have any support from school/college like most applicants

Hi Helen

I am also considering this course next year so wanted to ask what ur experience was at the phone interview and what pathway would you like to further specialise in? X
Telephone interview went ok. Very friendly interviewer made me feel comfortable. I'm currently a helpline counsellor but don't have a permanent contract. Love my job but need to have qualifications to apply for similar roles.Have a conditional offer now but as a mature student with no A levels have to pass MSAP exams to get in.Anyone out there have any advice on these?

Hey aw I’m glad it went well for you  how did you get into telephone Counseling? Did you need to have initial qualifications I’m thinking forward to once I’m on the degree I will try to find a job that will put me in good stead with studying counselling what’s your view on it?

Look at volunteering. I was a volunteer counsellor at ChildLine for 8 years. All recruitment has been halted for the foreseeable future, however, once all this is over they will be looking for new volunteers. Maybe wait until you've settled into the course. They have a base at Salford Quays. They ask for a commitment of 4 hours a week for 40 weeks, there's a wide variety of shifts, daytime, evening, weekend and provide very good training. I found it really good experience.
