Kings or UCL?

Considering which uni, I know they're both good for history (which is what I want to study) but I wonder which overall is more appealing.

I would want to live the first year in London at student accommodation, and then maybe commute in everyday from wimbeldon (only 35-40 minutes) to save money.

Which uni has a nicer feel, better facilities and more interesting lecturers? I realise people will only have gone to one so what was your experience like there?
I'm also interested in politics so which one has better groups for that side of things?
