Study Abroad Scheme.

Hello folks,
I'm seriously considering firming Durham and I'll ultimately come to my decision based upon what other offers I get in the next few weeks. That being said, I'm curious about the study abroad schemes - not particularly Erasmus but rather the non-EU aspects.

I'm applying for Law and according to the website I can, if I do well plus manage to be selected study in Boston College, which although appealing to an extent isn't exactly my jam. I love the US, with plenty of people I speak to quite regularly over there, but Boston wouldn't be on my bucket list.

To cut to the chase - could I attempt to organise my own year studying abroad, as I know some unis (Glasgow Caledonian, for example) allow it, so would Durham? I'm looking to do a Masters in the US too, so it would be a very useful factor.
