G484 / G485 Physics OCR June 2014

Hi Physicists!

I couldn't find a thread for these exams so I thought why not make one myself.

I have copied and pasted these resources from one of last years threads,

They may be quite helpful:

Specification

From Jan 10 to Jan 12 with mark schemes - http://www.mediafire.com/?omrcsu4pef8tobe

Older Paper Questions (good for practice if you've gone through all the current spec papers):

Circular Motion & Simple Harmonic Motion - http://www.mediafire.com/?n8u8vcibmfbl7l4

Thermal Physics - http://www.mediafire.com/?39wnyg73q1w93jn

NOTES

(Practice questions and revision notes)

Good Luck Everyone!

Thanks veryintelligent for the link:

I'm so happy that you made this, I reeeeeaaallly need an A in both of these papers. Especially since I want to study Physics at Uni.
But yeah, thanks.

Good luck. I'm surprised no thread had been made as of yet.
(Unless I can't find it)
Yeah I'm hoping for an A* in physics :s-smilie:

I have finally reached the final module of A2 physics : Cosmology  (which is really interesting)
how is everyone else doing?

Just had G484 mock test I have G485 mock test next week but the last two topics as far as I remember have been removed from the paper since we haven't covered them yet. Would you say cosmology is generally easy, I'm hoping to finish it up myself in a day?

well im still studying the topic but the stuff ive done so farrr (formation and death of stars and olbers paradox) are quite straight forward

Sounds good, I'm just finishing off medical physics then its universes.

For medical physics, remember how all of the scanners and things work, there's almost always a question worth at least 5/6 marks (sometimes 9 including a QWC mark) that's like 'Describe how an MRI scanner works' or 'Describe how a photomultiplier tube works'. Easy marks if you just pretty much write the paragraph out of the textbook.

That's great! In biology AQA they tend to have 3 five marker questions at the end which are pretty simple. Though with physics I'd probably study from the mark schemes so I avoid waffle.
Our teacher sped through everything and we actually finished both G484 & G485 by the end of January, so it gives us a lot of time.
Although I can't stand Medical Physics, not only is it boring, there's hardly any equations. :unimpressed:

You had to finish it on your own? Wow that kinda sucks .
we are like halfway through g485 in school at the moment
From a previous thread http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2244676. All the past paper questions from when the syllabus was arranged differently has been sorted into relevant topics. I've noticed that OCR practically repeat a lot of these in the recent exams so I definitely recommend downloading them.
I honestly have no idea where we are with G485. My teacher has gone all over the place. :frown: However, I do know that there is a lot of content to cover, and I'm fairly worried that we won't get to cover it all in time.

As for G484, I'm okay-ish with that. I'm just struggling with the thermal stuff and the forces involved with circular motion. Hopefully I'll improve in time.
only nuclear physics to go now yaay!

Thankfully just finished the physics OCR Syllabus. It's time to get down on the past papers and complete the practicals (never ending)!

Where is everyone else at in syllabus?

Good luck everyone

Wow you've already finished! We've just finished MRI scans before easter. Although to be fair we've done all our mocks, practicals, etc.
Are you going to look at the old syllabus past papers? I'm not sure if I should bother doing them since we've done lots of the questions as revision tests or homework at some point already.

I'm planning on doing that if I do run out of past papers. But I would rather avoid them. Are you going to use them?
