Hello everyone

I plan on further study (MA, you know it makes sense) and a professional qualification to fall back on.

route 1: MA in Philosophy related subject, in tandem with PGCE

route 2: " " " and CPE/GDL

route 3: Win the lottery, buy 4 jags, get 2 mortgages, move abroad, own an island, invest in 49 ISA accounts and donate what I don't need.

Okay, route 3 may be a little ambitious, but it's a possibility that has been planned for. More of a chance of winning a tenner, but hey.

Why assume that your degree has to have a spin on your future career? Obviously this is the case in some cases e.g. Medicine/Dentistry/specialised things like that, but with a degree in English I would have thought a massive section of the job-market is open to you - consider everything.
