Higher English Folio work help

I would like to know with regards to the english folio if you're allowed to write a piece, say a personal reflective piece, on something but you wrote the exact same topic of piece as you did in the standard grade writing exam in May the year before (my case S4) (I am in S5 the now) I am basically asking if you are allowed to do the writing piece that you did in the SQA writing exam the year before and be able to use that topic as a personal reflective piece for your S5 higher english folio? If not, then does SQA penalize this in any way? Obviously, the piece that i am writing for my S5 folio is much more better and of higher level compared to what i wrote in the S4 exams.
