Scottish vs English universities value for money

I'm a Scottish student and was wondering if it would be considered good value to pay for tuition at an English uni, or simply take advantage of the free tuition here in Scotland at a 'top' uni
(I am looking to study a MEng type degree)

Is it worth the fees to have a degree from a uni like Cam/Bath vs Strathclyde/Edinburgh/etc?

They're all top unis so the courses will all be really good and fairly similar, with slight differences in teaching style, module structure and focal points. Overall, you won't get a huge advantage from going to Cambridge instead of St. Andrew's.. At least not one that could make up for the student debts.

But if you really like the course at an English uni, want to move away, or just really want to attend the uni etc. you should just apply.

Imo you should apply to both Scottish and English unis. Maybe 3 Scottish and 2 English unis. Maybe when you get your offers you'll change your mind or something. (I applied to UCL expecting it to be my firm but I'm not sure anymore)

Visiting the unis and talking to students can help you decide.
