Is it nice though?! I don't want to be too far out and I know Lentons on a massive hill! I dread a 20 minute walk for a 9am lecture!

does anyone know the name of the facebook group for New Hall? I can only find the group for 2013-14 students, and is there anyone here staying in New Hall M block?

Hi chillyyy,

I've had a quick look for the group and here it is: NTU Halls - New Hall 2014/15

Original post by chillyyy
also, im staying in New Hall but im a law with criminology student so I am pretty far away from the city campus. do you reckon this will be a problem? will I be away from all the fun stuff?

Posted from TSR Mobile

Regarding this, you will have to travel into the city for your lectures and seminars. This shouldn't be a problem and you won't be away from all the fun stuff. Clifton Campus itself is fun with a great SU and amazing sport facilities. Also, you'll make friends in your seminars so for nights out in the city you may be able to stay with them.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Rob

hi I have a question about results day and the accommodation system. if I didn't reach my conditions to get on my course, would my accommodation immediately become available to someone else?

I ask this because I think I would still want to go to NTU so I would go through clearing to check for other courses available, however I would still want to keep my room at byron

Happy to answer questions about Nottingham Trent University accommodation, from car parking queries and the booking process, to how close halls are and what the housing options are for second year onwards.

If you call up Accommodation (+44 (0)115 848 2894) they will advise you and help you change your booking. You can change your booking any time up until around results day, but Accommodation can clarify this.

Thanks and have a good weekend,

Rob

Hi noxxc,

Good question, I'm not too sure about this. Give Accommodation a call and they'll be able to give you the most accurate answer: +44 (0)115 848 2894

Hi r.clewlow,

Getting from Norton Court to Brackenhurst campus will take you a long time. The bus from the city centre to Brack takes around 40 minutes so considering that Norton Court is 20 minutes from town, the journey could take an hour. Have you booked your accommodation at Norton Court?

Thanks and have a great weekend,

Does anyone have any advice on private halls/accommodation in Nottingham (City area)?

I'm looking at Russell View, Glasshouse, IQ Exchange, Victoria Halls and Trinity Square - any ideas on which is best?

It's all so confusing!

Hiya pal, thanks for your help!

I just saw the Goldsmith Court one and it looks fab(ish). It's a good alternative to Gill Street/Gill Street South which would have been the ones I would go for.

What sort of room did you go for in the end?

Thanks again!

Hi Justbill,

Once our halls fill up we turn to a number of privately-built halls of residence located around the city centre, many of which offer us exclusive deals. We also try to get NTU freshers living together in these flats, something you'll struggle to sort if you go directly. This link details this further.

You have to book through NTU Accommodation to get these offers. Give them a ring on +44 (0)115 848 2894 and they will be able to help you further.

Cheers,

Rob

Hi there, thanks so much for your help. I have phoned the accommodation team all ready and they said at this stage they weren't able to suggest specific accommodation. I don't suppose you have any idea of what the halls might be? If not, would you just recommend I wait until it's stated on the NTU website? I don't want to wait around too much because I've all ready lost out to halls being sold out all ready :frown:

Thanks again for your help, Rob!

Hi, I've booked accommodation for New Hall Block F which are studios. I've just found out that a lot of people that stay there are post grads or mature students. Is there a high number of post grads and mature students staying there? Also are the studios good for sociable people, like is it as easy to make friends in studios as it is in regular halls?
thanks

Hi Justbill,

The private residences won’t be confirmed until our portfolio is full. We have provisionally reserved an allocation at several residences round the city and as part of that reservation we have booked whole flats or blocks so our NTU fresher’s can be kept together, but as this is still to be finalised we can’t publish the details. You can book directly with private halls now, but you won’t be able to access our allocation as this needs to be booked via us. If you do decide to book directly make sure you ask the following questions:
- If I don’t get the grades I need (for conditional offer holders) or change my mind about coming to uni, will I be able to cancel the contract and get my deposit back
- Will you guarantee that I will be sharing with other first year NTU students
- What pastoral support is there and will there be Fresher’s Reps to make sure I don’t get left out of welcome week and social activities

Hope this covers it  Have a great Easter!

Rob

Hi Chillyyy,

Norton Court is a popular residence and has been open for 16 years and we have received a lot of positive feedback from previous residents. Student’s safety and security is of paramount importance to NTU and we would not continue to operate this residence if we had any concerns about its suitability. The police regularly provide NTU with area crime statistics and there has not been any indication that the area surrounding Norton Court has seen an unusually high level of crime affecting students during recent academic years. The area surrounding Norton Court is popular with second and third year students and there are other (private) halls of residence near by. Nottingham is a city and like any city university our students are advised to take care with their personal safety, wherever they live. NTSU provides for really important advice for all students on their safety while in the community: http://www.trentstudents.org/community

Also, I was a fresher rep there last year and I personally didn't have any problems when in the area

Have a great Easter!

Hi lilyrain,

F block does contain some longer contracts which are preferred by international, postgraduate and mature students. However we do have younger undergraduate students living there as well. If you would like to check that you are on a corridor with similar aged students you can email [email protected]. Studios are great for students who like to have a bigger space to call their own and a bit more independence (and not having to fight over washing up!). They are still social as New Hall is a big residence with 727 students living there. Other blocks of shared flats are within seconds walk away and students make friends during Fresher’s week (with the help of social activities and Fresher’s reps) and can socialise in each-others flats/studios. Chances are that you'll become good friends with certain flats and spend a lot of time hanging out in those flats. The Point student bar and other campus facilities are also minutes away. However, if you want to change your booking, get in touch as (subject to availability) we can move bookings.

Hope this helps and have an amazing Easter!

Hey, I'm just wondering what accommodation is actually left and do you know if it's mainly freshers who live in goldsmith court (if not, what private accommodation is mostly made up of NTU freshers) and whether they are still involved with the universities freshers activities as I don't want to feel left out or feel like I'm missing out? Thanks

Hi Hannah',

There is some accommodation still available, get in touch with the accommodation service on +44 (0)115 848 2894.
Some flats in certain private residences are solely for NTU freshers. To be housed in one of these flats, you must book via NTU's Student Accommodation Service. Many of the special deals we have agreed with these providers are unique to the allocation we hold. Although you may book directly with the provider, you will not be guaranteed accommodation with other NTU first year students and may not be offered the same deal.
We also make sure you're fully included with freshers activities. Many of these halls have their own NTU Fresher Reps to help you during Welcome Week. For the last few years Goldsmith Court has had its own freshers, so I wouldn't worry about not being included

Hope this helps you both,

Thanks,

Rob
