Ankle issues

Hi! Since around 2010, I noticed that whenever I ran somewhere or walked somewhere I would always twist my ankle and end up limping the rest of the way. In 2009 I had a greenstick fracture in my ankle after a trampoline accident and I was given a Tubigrip to sort it out. Anyways since we do running a lot at secondary school, I always end up twisting my ankle in PE lessons which aren't bad enough to stop running completely but I have to go the rest of the way with a heavy limp, or just end up walking. The ankle that twists is the one I fractured.

This happens every time I run, be it a lap of our school field or across a short distance to retrieve something, and I don't know if my previous accident has anything to do with it or if I just have a weak ankle. Has anyone else had this? Should I get a ankle brace or something like that? I want to take up walking/ running in study leave as a way of relaxing because of all the stress of exams and I wanted to know if an ankle support would be helpful?

Thanks!
hey!
when i sprained my ankle (by running backwards trying to catch a ball and not realising there was some fat pot hole in the ground when i was like 10...) i sprained it again like twenty million times because when you weaken your ankle (fracture, sprain, snap-a-doodles) it stays weak for a long time because your ligaments are all stretchy so its loose.
probably go to your doctors about this because of the frequency of twisting it.
try not to do running...try cycling or rowing instead where your ankles are in a set position and dont pop out...:P

Maybe stop doing as much running because this seems to be causing the problem and go to the GP and see what they say. There are plenty of other sports you can do - swimming is good cause it doesn't require you to be on your feet.

Go to a podiatrist. They specialise in the foot and lower leg so more helpful than a G.P. (although given your age a G.P may need to make a referral)

Hope you get it sorted. :-)

Well you're almost a doctor... only like 5 years to go :P Don't feel guilty! You were the one who went all doctor-y anyway!

It only bothers me randomly or when I exercise, which lets face it, I don't do much of :P I thought an ankle support would help for walks with the dog and running in PE...
