Key Stage 2 PGCE Interview Artefact or story advice?

Hello,

I am ridiculously excited and yet nervous about an upcoming interview for PGCE Primary via a school direct route.

I've been asked to bring a story or artefact. I went to an antiques fair and purchased an object used to heat beds (it looks like a mini frying pan with a lid) as i was hoping that we could discuss what it could be, used for, what it looks like, smells, etc.

This part of the interview will last 12 minutes and they'll monitor interactions with the children. I was a bit hesitant to use a story as I want to talk to the children and get their responses and input as much as possible.

Any thoughts as to what artefacts are suitable for Key Stage 2 (5-7 year olds)?

Or any stories you could recommend?

If anyone also has any other tips... questions you've been asked, things to ensure you mention etc then I'll be very grateful!

I'm currently researching into current education issues within the UK...

Love,

Daisy
I think your artefact is fine. It might help if you actually knew what it was called though!

Now for the next stage of revising for the IOE interview! I am so thrilled to start teaching next year when everything has finally been cemented.
