Colorado pulls in $2m from legal cannabis sales

Colorado made roughly £1.2million ($2million US) in marijuana taxes in January 2014 in the world's first accounting of the recreational marijuana business.

Gov. John Hickenlooper's office recently predicted that all the taxes and fees on retail marijuana would raise more than $35 million by the end of June and nearly $188 million in the next fiscal year, which begins in July.

Lawmakers are in the process of deciding what to do with the rest of the tax revenue from retail pot, which the governor's report predicts will amount to $77 million next fiscal year.

Hickenlooper has proposed a spending package with tens of millions of dollars aimed at preventing underage use of the drug, treating substance abuse problems, and public health.

Thoughts on this? Should it be legalised in the UK?

Yes it should be, it should be given a common tax with tobacco.
Is that all? Expect it to be ten times that in a few months. Then it will only be a matter or time until its legal here, as soon as big business can see there is more money in legalizing it than otherwise, thats what will decide it.

They can't even open bank accounts to register as legal businesses like a florist could.
