Hey! I've applied for Leodis . I've firmed Leeds for Arabic and Middle Eastern studies starting in 2014.

Hey guys  I'm at Leodis now and I really don't have any major issues with it, I'll just do a wee list for you:
Rooms:
I was in a flat in block H for first semester and the room was a good size, as was the ensuite. There was a mirror in the bathroom above the sink but no full length mirror so if you're wanting one I'd bring your own or get one from Home Bargains in town (they're only £8). None of the rooms have built in furniture so you can move your room around as much as you want (other than the desk which is built into the wall). I moved to block A in February, this is the only block without a lift and I'm on the top floor *sigh*. The rooms in block A are A LOT bigger and as as the bathrooms. The desks here aren't built onto the wall so you can move everything around. I prefer block A because it's an older building and feels more 'homely' whereas the other blocks feel like they are just a temporary place for students to stay.
Staff
On the whole the staff are pretty good, maintenance is performed quickly and security are really good. Only issue I'd say is that the office opening hours are so crap. If you want to pick up a parcel during the day you will have next to no luck. I pick up mine after 6 when the security team are manning the office as they are ALWAYS in there whereas the normal staff disappear during the day.
Distance to Uni
You'll be hard-pressed to find accommodation at better distance. I can usually walk there in about 8 minutes, only problem being a big hill you have to climb to get there (but that could just be me being lazy haha). Obviously Central Village is right next door but it's oversubscribed so you're unlikely to get a place there.

I'll try and upload a few photos of both the rooms

These are from Block H (which is the same layout as all other blocks apart from A)

These are from the top floor of Block A. I've realised I haven't taken any of the bathroom... But I assure you it's just basic - decent sized shower, toilet, sink, nothing mind-blowing!

Hope that's okay information, let me know if you want to know anything else

I'd say that socially, Leodis is pretty good. Even if you're put into an unsociable flat, there are other flats super close that you can befriend and the blocks are close enough together to attend other flat parties etc. I had the problem of my flat being TOO sociable at times (4am - 8am -.-) but security is really good at making people shut up haha. I would say that if you get put in A block above third floor you will have trouble socialising because no one can be bothered to climb 14 flights of stairs for a party :P overall though I suppose the social aspect is what you make of it, but that's the same with all the accommodations xx

Any concerns about the surrounding area? I've heard it's a little rough! Would you apply there again if you were a first year?

Just accepted my unconditional from Leeds and Leodis is my preference atm.

Hey  I really don't think the surrounding area is that bad, the locals don't shout at you if that's what you mean? The only area that you're probably best avoiding when alone is a road (can't remember the name) about 10 minutes from the accommodation where people shout at you fro windows... there were a few d***s throwing firecrackers at cars/people from there about 3 months ago. Overall though I would say it's a good location to live in.

Hey, ah fair enough! I'm not really one to worry about that stuff but have heard it a few times.

Will probably apply to Leodis then I think.

Hi, I've just applied for Leodis accommodation. I have accepted Leeds as my firm offer so now it's just a question of waiting with fingers crossed at meeting the conditions  Obviously if I do get in it's still not definite I'll be given a room in Leodis but I hope I do 'cause I'm hearing lots of positive things. Would you say it's easy to make new friends in your first year? I'm not antisocial but at times I can be quiet and shy and it's just something I was worrying a little about. Also, I've looked but can't find out anywhere whether having a kettle in your room is allowed, could someone let me know? Also, what is the clothes storage like? I know there's a wardrobe but is there anywhere else, such as drawers, where clothes can be stored? Is the internet connection wireless or do you have to plug in, and how good is the speed? Are there any good restaurants/take aways nearby? I hope to do a lot of my own cooking but it'd be nice every now and then as a treat. What is the general opinion of sharing food within flats, ie. taking it in turns to cook for everyone/sharing milk/bread/tea etc and splitting costs? Does this happen often or do people prefer to sort themselves out? How often are parties held within your block on average? Every night, a few times/once a week, once a month? Lots of questions, I'm very curious about all that goes on! Thanks in advance to anyone that has the patience to reply >.<

Hi , I'm on 5th Floor flat 2!
I assume most people who live there walk up St Marks Avenue to get to uni/town. That's home to Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College, and as a previous (going to Leeds uni) student there might I recommend avoiding it between:

08:20-09:00am, 13:00-14:05pm and 16:00-16:30 (or 14:45-16:15 on a wednesday) (all during term times) because it's packed.

I think I am, I'm in Annexe 1, room 6 which is apparently the floor above the residence office. Not entirely sure though! I'm waiting on an email to explain exactly where the room actually is. :')
i have an ensuite double room in oxley but would love a room in leodis if anyone is interested in a swap or knows of any vacancies please let me know!
