America = the most backwards western country?

including Russia as well, they are supposed to be in charge and helping third world countries but they aren't much better since religion seems to rule over the government, a lot of americans are still anti-gay and some states are even anti-abortion do you really think these countries should be 'running the world'? should it go back to Britain?

Back to Britain? Are you serious?

The homophobic and anti-abortion is mostly from the Christian Right.
That doesn't make the whole country backwards.

Nope. It's the envy of all liberals (a true individualistic society where capitalists can do whatever they want), and the enemy of all decent people, still in your terms it's the most forward country, it's the best in the race to the bottom and the making of vulgarity accessible to everyone.

How many Americans do you know personally, OP?

You also forget that each state is more like a country with the same language.

there are only 17 states that legalized gay marriage so by western world standards they're still behind, yet they are the suppose to be leading??

That doesn't make the whole country backwards.

religion clearly dominates over there though.

it's in the facts, 17 states out of 51 have legalized gay marriage, it's 2014 for heavens sake.

That's 17 states more than 5 years ago, and by your logic that still means the UK is backwards until August
Religion doesn't make it a bad place.
that's what worries me, it isn't even the government that are against it, it's the people. Obama has already stated he is pro-gay.

There is a lot to civilisation that does not involve having either an abortion or gay sex, though that subsection seems to become smaller by the year.

But I would point out that American abortion laws are more permissive than those of the UK.

they are backwards when it comes to gay marriage though, when most of the other western countries are ok with it, again i stated they are suppose to be the model examples of what the western world is like.

what did it prove? it still goes to show the majority that vote, vote against gay marriage, polls don't matter, votes do.
that's like saying a lot of people like spandu ballet when the only people that matter are the ones that actually bought their album.

What? Haven't you realised it yet? Some people seem to think 'believing they're right' is more important than happiness.
