Disgusting.

The saddest thing is, the world doesn't seem to care about what has been happening in Mexico for all these years.

They're also along with many countries such as Pakistan, Iran, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, China etc are helping to keep drugs illegal and condemning thousands of people.

Murica is making a step in the right direction, regarding drugs at least.

I agree, legalization would be a step in the right direction.

But lets not forget the users. None of this would be happening if people weren't so selfish about their pleasures. The users are directly funding the cartels, ideally they should stop purchasing the drugs.

There is no guilt with the users.

It's not the user's fault that the powers in control have turned consumption/production of recreational drugs into organised crime.

People have ALWAYS used drugs, and always will.

Mexican cartels sell top quality stuff? since when? they're known for having some of the worst cannabis.........

Honestly though people who purchase drugs should be ashamed of themselves. They play a big part in the cartel violence. (However this doesn't apply to home grown cannabis)

is it too much for users to just stop buying the drugs?

It's entirely the users fault. No one is forcing them to buy drugs.

The users buy the cartels products which makes the cartels billions and funds their operations.

Yes the cartels wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the government criminalizing drug production etc. And they wouldn't exist if users weren't paying them!

Peter hitchens is 100% right when he says that spoiled western kids believe their pleasures are more important than everything else.

If you buy drugs you directly support the cartels. And this is the result, bloodshed and misery in poorer countries.

All of this violence and bloodshed is caused by cartels fighting for easier, more accessible, distribution routes to get their drugs to the users!

You're not being serious!

Murder is bad and I wish it stopped, but it never will. Drug use will never stop, no matter what.

Instead of demonising users (who have been users from safe sources for all of human history except for now), pressure should be made to change the law.

The law is the problem, not drug users. Drug use is inevitable, absolutely inevitable.

They're ENTIRELY to blame. The market for these drugs are western countries. It doesn't matter if Mexico legalises drugs, or Uruguay, it does nothing for drug trafficking.

The political class simply don't care when people die in these countries.

Let's be honest, the bolded just isn't going to happen. It's probably a cliche argument, but in my view the situation is just like prohibition in 1920s-30s America - you can't fight supply and demand, and if it's illegal for good, upstanding chemists to provide the drugs, well then unscrupulous people will instead - even killing off the cartels won't change it.
