How can you not love Boris?

I'm a lefty, a liberal, a socialist ... whatever you want to call it. I'm probably the political opposite of Boris Johnson. But I still love the guy.

I resent his politics. I find some of his views abhorrent.

But his personality is fantastic. He's a real character. Totally different to most other politicians.

Thoughts on Boris?

An affable buffoon.

I think it's dangerous to have a likeable character, whose politics you don't agree with but whom you just 'can't help' but 'love'. I believe that affable personality that has people laughing at him gives him too much power and attention. It's cute until it's not, and then we realise we enabled it.

I thought I loved Boris too but I soon realised that he is actually a nasty piece of work.

This bumbling fool business is just an act. People are stupid, they cannot see past his lovable façade which means they forget about the fact that he is supposed to be a politician. Even people that aren't into politics know of Boris Johnson which proves that this persona he has created has paid off, he doesn't seem like the other toffs when in fact he is.

If you had ever heard a speech in person as I have you would never vote for him. The man who has buses with conductors who don,t take fares and a cable car to nowhere.

Agree with this entirely. You can't fall for his 'personality', that is actually just a well calculated judgement in order to win over people who otherwise wouldn't agree with him.

That said, it seems, to me at least, that outside the M25 the general opinion of him is that he is a pompous arse.
A horrible, horrible man who hides his disgusting views behind this loveable buffoon character.

He's an absolutely great mayor who is doing brilliant things for London. Godspeed, Boris.

I don't like him. He's a fool.

I hate his politics. He can be funny at times, but he's just a cover boy for the tories. A way of getting stupid people who can't think for themselves to vote for him and the Tory party because he is 'funny'.

Couldn't care less about the guy, I'm not from London.
Boris Johnson is not a loveable, bumbling idiot. He is a very clever, ruthless man, who has created this persona of someone so childish that they couldn't possibly be a lying politician with selfish ulterior motives in order to allow the Tories to do whatever they want to London. He's one of the worst politicians of all, and I just hope that soon people will realise this.

Hate him really.

I've heard that he's actually a really nasty person, not sure about the reliability of that... but that's coming from a few people, all of which have met him.
He has done many great things for london such as free travel for teenagers, but a lot more could still be improved on the cycling front, still too many deaths.

boris johnson pulls off being a snob extremely well ironically  unlike miliband, cameron, etc. usually being a snooty upper classman is a terrible image for politicians but boris johnson is definitely funny enough to get away with it. the hair also really sells the image of the "loveable baffoon". he reminds me of the toad from wind in the willows too, maybe that's where he got the idea...

but can putin make people laugh? putin in my opinion seem like a rather meek and mild man, he doesn't strike me as a "strong man" other than the fact that he sits on russia' throne
It's impossible not to love him! His hair, and his bikes, and his bumbling-ness! He's completely adorable!
