Writing an essay on a film - risky?

My teacher says it's 'risky' to do a French A level essay on the film (I have a choice between doing one on a book and one on a film) because the book gives you more detail. But, for revision purposes, the film (it is 'Au Revoir les Enfants' and it lasts about 1.5 hours) is easier to go through several times and easier to condense in my opinion. I would feel safer doing an essay on the film - is that acceptable? My teacher is basically forbidding me...but it is my choice?

It's definitely your choice, at the end of the day it's your exam and the teacher won't be marking it. We are also doing a book and film, but in my opinion the film is easier to revise than the book.
