Good books to read?

So im in year 12 and studying further maths, maths, chem, physics and biology. (Dropping biology at the end of this year my least favourite)
Its coming to the time to think about uni course and i will probably end up taking a natural science course, including both physics and chemistry, my two favourite subjects.
I was wondering how i could show my passion for phys and chem in a personal statement, i've heard a good way is to talk about books you have read, but i havent read many...
Any advice? Are there any must read chemistry/physics books or magazines i should subscribe to, new scientist?
