Forced vibrations

Heyyyyyy, i'm trying to self teach myself A2 Physics and i've completely hit a brick wall with the idea of phase differences and Forced vibrations.

Basically, my book states that 'at Resonance, the phase difference between the driver and oscillator is 90 degree's'.

I am completely thrown by this - i have no idea what it means, surely they'd be in phase? also, if the oscillator is the mass thats oscillating, what's the driver?!

You'll have to be pretty basic when explaining, most of the things i read make me more confused :frown:

Thanks!

I don't know whether this helps?

it kinda explains some stuff I guess but doesn't really give an elementary explanation, which is what you seem to be looking for
