Re: TSR Bollywood SocietyYeah definitely, Sunny Leone is not a good example of actresses moving from modelling/other glamour industries into Bollywood. I just hope it doesn't encourage other porn stars to do the same thing - because the way things are going now, I can see that happening.(Original post by 007Shella)
HOLY SH*T that is long O.O - That's what she said!
Sunny Leone:
-Us bechari keh aur kitneh kapray utharo geh?... jeebus
-Her learning hindi ... Us bechari ko lagta hai mahesh bhatt us se dialogue bulwayega............pagli... C=
-Bad influence on Bollywood.. its already so slutty... what happened to the veer zara, devdas, or even andaaz type of love stories... it's just going downhill from here onwards... although i still do wanna watch Cocktail because I love Deepika.
-True say about the "this will start encouraging young impressionable girls to get into porn in the hope that it will give them a ticket to Bollywood"
-You enjoy her porn "work"?... Too much information >.< - But it's true!
Films which are going to be released ... I'm looking forward to all of those too... But I'm hoping another classic will be made soon... I'm sick of all these romcom, action, police officer themes going on...
As it is, there are many young girls who don't have the talent to become actresses, but if all they have to do is take their clothes off (provided they have a good body), they can make it because of film-makers like Mahesh Bhatt. You could say he's become a porn maker now, because I bet you any money that Jism 2 will turn out more like porn than anything before. And the media will just call it "erotic".
True, I think Bollywood has become restricted to the typical genres of comedy, superficial romance (not very intense), action, drama and horror. There are many films which blend different elements of those genres, but still nothing has become truly unique in the way the story is told. Very few films decide to venture outside the box to give Bollywood a bit of variety - and for that reason many of them end up in failure, because Indian audiences are not as open-minded as the Western audiences. Like you said, when was the last time we had a classic romance like DDLJ, KKHH, HDDCS or any of the Yash Chopra films? It pains me to say it but, although many of the films being made today are amazing and will become incredibly successful, they won't be remembered for as long as films in the 90's, for example. Look at DDLJ - that's been out for 17 years and still going strong in some multiplexes in India - but I guarantee you no Bollywood film would last that long today.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to lots of films in the near future. Cocktail does look good, although I'm disappointed that Saif doesn't do more films. Although I love actors who take their time over projects and only do 1 film every 1-2 years, I think productivity is an important part of being an actor - hence why I'm disappointed with stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan. If Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan can manage 2-4 films a year, why can't they?
I also love Deepika, she's an amazing actress and very beautiful. I can't wait to see her in Yeh Jawanai Hai Deewani - that sounds like a good film.

Re: TSR Bollywood SocietyGlad you enjoyed it.(Original post by HumiT)
I watched Rowdy Rathore a couple of hours ago. It was AMAZING!!
I agree, it was AWESOME! Definitely the best Bollywood film I've seen for months, and it's a great pleasure to Akshay Kumar back in the action avatar that made him famous in the 90's.
I'm also looking forward to Khiladi 786 and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2. Can't wait to see Akshay Kumar become even more versatile in roles like those!

Sad isn't it ... I watched all the old SRK films as soon as my exams were over, like Karan Arjun, Mohabbatein, Baazigar and many others
and I miss that Bollywood ='(
I think the best actors at the moment are only Shahrukh and Aamir
I wasn't impressed with Agneepath to be honest... they hyped it up too much
Again.. I wasn't impressed with Bodyguard either
It's like during the time veer zara was coming out... but Veer Zara lived up to the audiences expectations.. theres just too much hype in the media these days
I think Directors are putting more effort in the promotions rather than the film itself
Yes Deepika has beautiful eyes, dimples, height and a figure too lol
Naturally sleek .. I don't think she needs to work out much
Unlike Katrina Kaif.. she lives in the gym and is always crying about her diet
poor thing ('= ... but she does look pretty good these days
-wait... when has she ever looked bad? LOL -
Re: TSR Bollywood SocietyYeah you must watch it! I don't like watching bollywood action films because I find them so OTT but this one was alright.(Original post by 007Shella)
Oh THANK GOD! I was scared Akshay would fail again epically at the box office..
Yeyy looking forward to watching it this weekend (=
Most of Akshay's films that I've watched are comedies. So watching him in an action type role was great! I don't really like bollywood action films but I thought Akshay did well and the story line was full of twists lol.(Original post by asif007)
Glad you enjoyed it.

Re: TSR Bollywood SocietyOf the films that are releasing in the (fairly close) future, only Ek Tha Tiger and Talaash, Yash Chopra's next and Dabangg 2 and (possibly) Cocktail have strong cases to be given the premiere treatment, so I would advise against it.(Original post by asif007)
I was very impressed with the music for Cocktail, as the album released recently and I couldn't resist listening to some of the catchy songs from the trailer. Tumhi Ho Bandhu and Angreji Beat are my favourites so far!
I have yet to see Being Cyrus, but I've also heard that it was very complex and plot-driven. I imagine that's the type of role that actors like Saif Ali Khan derive most of their success from. For example John Abraham, who played pretty intense roles in films such as Aetbaar, Jism, Zinda, Karam, Dhoom (and now Race 2), started to get famous from those full-on dramatic films (especially when he was starring opposite Bipasha Basu).
I didn't like Agent Vinod as much as I expected to. I went into the film with high hopes as I love Saif's style and was looking forward to seeing him in a role very different from anything he's done before. In fact, it's a rare opportunity for any actor in Bollywood to play such a realistic action role like AV. But I was very disappointed with the execution - all the action scenes (which I saw in the trailer and were the major reason I chose to see AV) were stuffed into the beginning and end of the film, with a few scattered throughout. The flow of the film was not very consistent and quite slow at times - nowhere near as intense as some of the recent James Bond films. I think AV strayed too far outside the masala action entertainment that Indian audiences are used to, so I wasn't surprised when I heard that it did badly at the BO and incurred huge losses for Saif. For me, Agneepath is definitely the best film of 2012 so far - closely followed by Rowdy Rathore.
What did you think of Rowdy Rathore? I absolutely LOVED it - the songs were amazing, action scenes very well choreographed, Akshay's acting was very funny (as he naturally is) as well as intense as Rathore, and I couldn't take my eyes off Sonakshi throughout the whole film. Even when she was covered in blood near the end of the film, she still looked so beautiful! And the song Chammak Chalo Chel Chabeli showcased more of her dancing talent than Hum Ka Peeni in Dabangg.
From the trailers I've seen, I'm most looking forward to Ek Tha Tiger. The action scenes in that look much better than anything Salman has ever done before, and my first impression was that it could compare to some of the earlier James Bond films (e.g. Timothy Dalton) while AV tried (too) hard to be Daniel Craig's type of Bond. I'm also looking forward to Teri Meri Kahaani next week (as it was filmed near my university!) but I'm not sure whether to go for the premiere or just watch it in a normal cinema - £100 for the premiere in Leicester Square and another £75-£100 for the afterparty is really pricey!
What do ya think?
Lol, I don't mind your analytical style of posts here - it gives this thread a bit of variety. In fact, I enjoy reading your analysis and criticisms of various films, plus your knowledge of all the awards. I think you could be the next Taran Adarsh or Komal Nahata!
Rowdy Rathore is an average, or possibly even above average film. Well done to Akshay Kumar, though. 3/5. Film critic Rajeev Masand said "
Interesting review of AV. To be honest, I didn't mind the placement of the action scenes too much. The cinematography, acting and background music always kept me interested. Obviously it isn't a perfect film but great for India's first spy film.
Now for some news. The full theatrical trailer of 'Ek Tha Tiger' is releasing on the 29th of this month, which is next Friday. The music is going to be released in the first/second week of July.
'Taxi 9211' has to be one of the best films I've seen in the last couple of weeks. John Abraham's performace is definitely up there with his best. Nana Patekar is great too.
Haven't checked out the 'Cocktail' album fully yet, but will do.
Thank you for the compliment btw

Nope - Ishaqzaade hasn't been released in the UK.
