London Flatmate Finder

Hi all,

There is always a lot of talk on the London Uni threads about finding somewhere to live

So this thread is for people to try and meet other people with similar accommodation requirements to themselves - so they can chat and get to know each other rather than potentially moving in with strangers who they may not get on with.

all welcome whether they are new graduates working, postgrads or undergrads.

Just post your requirements and maybe a bit about yourself and what you are doing with your life

Happy house hunting!

For those postgrads from the UCL thread that were asking!

Looking for flatmates within 20-30mins of UCL/ KCL, I'll be doing a masters so I'd like a pretty quiet house, preferably girls but I don't mind too much. Housemates who can keep communal spaces clean (don't care what you do in your own room). I already have my eye on a few places so a group of up to 6 people would work fine.

I'm starting a PhD at UCL in September in Environmental Science. I am looking for a house within 20-30 minutes of Euston and will be moving with my partner (we aren't very couply and don't fight, I say this as I wouldn't have wanted to live with a couple when I was single! We're more like friends), both looking to pay £750 or less between us all in. He works so I understand I am an awkward one with all the council tax business :P

I'd like a home rather than a house - so a well looked after, comfy and friendly environment, maybe cooking together sometimes, cool to have friends round occasionally for a few drinks but not staying up late being riotous and respecting other peoples need for sleep/work.

Hi, I'm doing an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience at UCL based at Queen's Square. I'm literally looking for the same sort of thing as you. Can I private message you? I'm quite new to TSR

Hi everyone!

I am currently doing an internship in London and I am planning to come back here to finish my studies after the summer. However, the housing is one of my big concerns. I'm currently living with someone I know since it is for a relatively short period of time, but if I was to come back I would like to live somewhere else and I would like to meet some people that im sure I could live with.

I have found a website where you can meet people and find flats and flatmates online, but I dont know if it is allowed to post links in this forum, so let me know if youre interested and I can send you a link

I'm interested

Can anyone provide insight into what 'expensive' and 'reasonable' accommodation prices are in zone one and two?

I found a place in zone 2 (N7 postcode) for 215/week (single accommodation, ensuite, close to tube station, utilities included, free gym) and am wondering if that's a good price. Any input would be much appreciated.

Also, thank you, Redferry for organizing this thread!

No worries.

I think for those amenities that is probably about average from my searching!!

Hi all,
I am 99% going to be a PhD student (I need to take the final decision) in UCL for the upcoming academic year (studying Statistical Science).

I have found a place to live in Zone 2, where the total time that you need to go (by tube) to Euston Station (including walking time from your accommodation's door) is 15 minutes. Alternatively, if you use the Warren Street Station, it's 16 minutes. You have to be a student to live there.

I am looking forward to listen from people (students of any uni) who would like to stay in a shared flat with me. Students can be of any gender, race, age, etc.
You should keep the shared areas at a basic clean level (although I don't care what you do in your rooms), and expect you to be not so noisy during the sleeping hours (at least for most of the days).
I am a friendy person and you can easily communicate with me, hang out, etc. so I expect that you also like to socialise too, have a positive and cooperative beahviour.
It will be a plus if you have interests in mathematics/sciences, computer games, opera (musicals and arts in general).

The rooms are en-suite and the price is around 805 pounds per month (including all bills) for 12 months. According to me the rooms are spacy enough for one person.
If you are interested please quote me within this thread

I'm looking to find somewhere/people to live who are either postgrads or nursing students at KCL (or even better, both!). I'm going to be studying postgrad nursing. I would like an en suite, and a place that is a home not just somewhere to crash so friendly people who keep communal areas tidy and a cup of tea and a natter watching tv at the end of a busy day but also respect people's own space

Ideally I'd quite like to either be near bermondsey/southwark ish area, or clapham?

Message me if you're interested

Hello redferry! I think I am looking for the very kind of accommodation - or home - you are looking for. I don't mind couples. I am sociable but I also like to hit the bed at midnight more often than not. I have a compulsive need of cleaning kitchen surfaces

I am starting an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development at UCL. Since we study related discipline, I believe we may have quite a few topics in common (and a shared vision re: recycling etc.).

I have graduated from UCL in 2011 and have been working since as an environmental educator/sustainability consultant/project manager etc in an environmental NGO. I don't live anywhere near London now so I might not be very useful for the flat hunt, but since I lived in London for 3 years and studied at UCL, I might have some suggestions as to where to look for places. I don't have a huge budget so for me basically the cheaper the better (with reasonable commute and degree of comfort).

Hi redferry and borntosleep! I'm actually starting a M.Sc in Water Science and Goverance at KCL and if you guys find anything, I would love to join! I was born and raised in Canada so I don't know how much help I can be when it comes to flat/house hunting in London, but I will be arriving in September, if you guys find anything and need an extra flatmate, I would be on board. I have a budget of 600 pounds per month, and like you guys, I'm in the same field- I did my undergrad in Geography and I'm not picky when it comes to whom I am living with as long as you're clean and respectable! I don't go out often, maybe once every two weeks. Msg me if you guys want to chat!

This sounds pretty much exactly what I am looking for  when are you looking to move in?

I keep the kitchen pretty clean so hopefully you wouldn't have to do too much compulsive cleaning! Although have been known to leave the washing up until the next morning very occasionally. Also our bed time is usually 11-11:30 on work days so that wouldn't be an issue either

Any areas you recommend? What sort of budget are you on?

We were hoping for <700 between us if that is even possible... O-o

Hi everyone,

I'm starting a postgraduate course in Philosophy and was hoping to find accommodation in zones 1 or 2 (ideally no more than a 20 or 30 minute walk from UCL) with rent around (though hopefully less) £200 per week. I have no preferences with regard to the gender or age or anything else of my housemates (FYI: I'm 21, male, non-smoking, vegetarian). I plan to move to London in mid-sepember and stay until the end of the summer term. Please give me a shout if you're interested
