What is your understanding off this question?
I've been given a task by a university professor to write an essay on the following subject:
Assess to which extent Zen Buddhist sects collaborated with the Japanese state during the country's wars in the 1930s and 1940s.
The quality of my essay will determine my eligibility and entry to the university.
