btec nqf vs qcf entry requirement complications :s

Hi guys, I've been out of education for about 4 years now but I've decided that if I really want to succeed I need to go to university.

The uni in question is Manchester Met, and the course is Accounting and finance with a foundation year.

I have the stated gcse requirements and 160 ucas points as required.

However when I told the adviser that I had a BTEC level 3 certificate in business (MM) he said that they don't accept certificates as they are a AS equivalent not A2?

Surely this isn't right, I spent two years doing this course full time at sixth form and some students on my course went to university the following year.

After intensely searching the net I found that the BTEC tariffs changed in august 2010 after I had gained my qualification, my grades are on the NQF tariff not the newer QCF tariff, it appears that my equivalent on the new tariff would be a diploma MM.

Please somebody tell me I am right, and what I studied was worth 2 A levels.

Cheers, Liam.

p.s I'm not sure I put this in the right section, Mods feel free to move it to a relevant location.

It is the equivalent to 2 A Levels, yes. You need to inform them that it was completed pre-2010, and that it is NCF - this should have been done in your PS, as well as on the qualifications page.

Your MM = A Level CC.
