I said Robson :frown: He could actually tackle.

I assumed by modern era he meant the Premier League  Never got to see Robson play sadly.

lol, it's Gerrard. Gerrard has Robson, Hoddle, Scholes, Lampard, all of them beat.

The second he lifts that PL trophy, it's a done deal.

How does winning one title have any bearing on whether he goes above Scholes, who won 11?

His player days did go into the first years of the PL tbf. Even if he was obviously passed his peak. Only made about 30 appearances for in the first two seasons, though did play a full season for Middlesbrough in 1996.

By modern I take it to mean the last 25 - 30 years. But that's just my interpretation. I'm old.
Paul Scholes. The man was simply incredible, a joy to watch.
Between Gerrard and Scholes. Different players, majestic in their prime. Top, top pros.

Lampard, as much as I admire him is slightly behind both for me, but definitely third on the list.

How is he not technically better than Gerrard?
Paul Gascoigne.

He probably is, but he doesn't **** all over him. It's not by much, like it is with Lampard. Also I'd be called biased if I only removed Scholes.

Scholesy or Captain Marvel himself, Bryan Robson.
As a teenager I used to watch the legendary Gunther Netzer. Now there was a proper mid field general.
The Romford Pele,naturally

We've never had this thread before. The correct answer is Paul Scholes however.

PFA Team of the Year
Gerrard - 7 (2000-01, 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09)
Scholes - 2 (2002-03 & 2006-07)

Regardless, the correct answer is still Paul Scholes.

As stated, the answer is bloody obvious. He's ginger, about 5'7", decent passer :colonhash:

Gerrard is/was the better player.

Scholes has become overrated because Xavi and Iniesta praised him.

Gunther, unusual name for an Englishman
