Digby Hall 14/15

I've just accepted my accommodation in Digby Hall. I'm in Yellow Block First Floor Flat 3 - anyone previously been in Digby Hall that could tell me what its like? Or going to be there in September, maybe some neighbors?

Hi everyone,
I haven't seen all the comments before but I watched a thread like this last year.
I am a first year in Digby Hall and I absolutely love it there so well done for applying there! It's honestly the best value for money block (if it's still the same price as it was when I applied last year!). It's also the closest to ASDA which is honestly more of an issue than you think as you will probably be making a lot of trips to there at random times so it helps to be close.
All of my friends who live in different blocks have said it is the nicest block they've seen and I agree with them.
If you have any questions then feel free to message me or reply to me on this thread

The rooms are very spacious, with a 3/4 bed and a sizeable desk, they have another little cabinet that I use as a bed side table but I know others use for other things. The wardrobes look a bit crappy from the outside but really a wardrobe is a wardrobe and they have enough space to fit a fair amount of clothes in. I believe that every room has a sink in it, which is quite nice  every one but one room seems to have a bookshelf in it but if you ask one of the site guys (mainly Jeff, the crazy looking, long grey haired guy) then he should be able to sort you out with a bookshelf if you don't have one, one of my friends got one via him.
Obviously this information is all just from the ones that I have seen, so my mine, my flatmates, and some of the other people I talk to around Digby.

In answer to your other question, yes I do socialise with people outside of Digby. I didn't so much in the first semester as I was just concentrating on getting on with my flat and people in my block but in the second semester I have a lot more, been to Bowder, a few of the John Foster halls, Beaumont etc. For me, as I was very lucky, my flatmates have become my closest friends at uni, but you do socialise a lot with people on your course too and if you join a club then that is very social and a great way to meet people, I wish I had joined one at the start. Uni is what you make it really, that's the great thing about it.

If you have any other questions then feel free to ask away

I'm self-catered; what are the kitchen facilities like? How big is the bathroom and how people do you have to share with?

I'm pretty sure Digby Hall is divided into different buildings, so Inglewood is just a separate building

The kitchen facilities are great, you will have a tray in the freezer and a shelf in the fridge no problem  the hob is electric and a bit temperamental but it is all new and good enough! You will be sharing the flat with between 5 and 7 people, and there are two good sized bathrooms between you all. I thought this would be a big problem (I applied for an en-suite room) but I've honestly only had to wait for the shower I think twice as you are all on different schedules  I have a flat of 6 guys so 3 of us kind of share one and the other 3 take the other but it's completely interchangeable, depends what you and your flatmates want to do. The flats were all single sex this year (as far as I'm aware).

Any other questions feel free to ask

Inglewood is the converted house that is next to Digby  Digby has like 7 coloured blocks and then Inglewood is literally a stones throw from those blocks.

Dear Bazinga94, I am from Singapore where student rooms are independent units within a block. It seems that rooms in Leicester are mostly part of a flat or house with siting area and kitchen. I am used to the former arrangement and prefer a less noisy environment. Wonder if any of the halls offer rooms as independent units and not part of a flat? Based on your description, Digbi seems to have rooms located in shared flats too, am I right? I am confused. Appreciate it if anyone can advice, cheers!

Hi I'm in digby house and not really found anyone else who is in the same one as me haha but a general question for the converted houses as I'm guessing they are all pretty similar, what is the room size like, how many people share a bathroom and how many showers etc are in each bathroom? Hopefully someone knows the answer  thanks!
