If a parent asks you to do something...

Do you do it?

I don't mean bad things but just wondering what the situation is with you.

if a parent asks you to do a job or something but you really hate doing it/don't want to do it, do you do it or say no?

What normally happens if you refuse?

Thanks
I just don't do it unless I'm feeling particularly nice. They'll ask a few more times I still won't do it and then usually they end up doing it themselves.
I whine and I complain but I'll do it or they'll probably take my phone away or something. If my parents ask you to do something, you do it
If they ask you to do something they want it done before the words come out of their own mouth or immedietly after they say it. But i always do it to avoid getting myself in trouble

Ask them why they can't do it themselves.
"I'll do it laaaater" ... :ninja:
I have this thing that I never do anything people tell me to do. This applies outside, in school, family etc.

When my parents tell me to study or clean up in a naggy way I do the exact opposite. Fortunately it's all okay because I end up doing it all on my own accord.

Yeah. Why wouldn't I? Even when I was a teenager, I'd get something done eventually. Doing your bit for the house, making it all a better place... I agreed with that, even as a teen. If it was something daft, and something that didn't actually need doing, I would probably leave it a little while to be irritating and make a spiteful point. But ultimately... nothing wrong with helping out when asked. If anything, with hindsight, I wish I had done more to get into the general habit of 'life upkeep' haha, and make ma mum happier.

I think that 'thing' is called a problem with authority/brattiness. P:

I do it because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be here typing so I kind of owe them a lot. Plus, most the time it doesn't require a lot of effort. It's normally just help around the house or going to the shops for something. My parents never ask me to do anything unreasonable.
I do it, unless it's studying they nag me to do, if they leave me to it I do it on my own. But if it's a chore or something to help out I'll do it, I might whine a bit if it's my brothers turn though, he never does anything!
I do. Not necessarily willingly, but I do

I do it because my mum gives me money per a month so it doesn't hurt. BUT if I am revising and my mother is yelling at me to put the clothes in the dryer, I won't do it. Usually it depends what I am doing. I normally just say "I'll do it later". Which at that point 5 hours has gone by and my mother does it herself :P

I think you're right in a way (with authority) to be honest, but you have the wrong impression. Of course if I'm asked to do something I would do it. Most of the tidying in my house is from me, my mum being next. I study as well but not by being told to. I get put off by being demanded to do things, or by being incessantly lectured, maybe that has to do with 'authority'. But no, I'm certainly not a brat, I have no problem going out to get groceries even if it's at short notice,I always help out and get **** done, but at my own accord - as I've already said. I just can't accept having orders being barked at me by anyone, not by parents, siblings and especially teachers. I don't think it's necessarily a good thing. But I have no problem with it.
I do it, but only because I know they won't stop nagging until I do. It's easier just to get it out of the way and save time

They helped me plenty of times, so I do as soon as possible.

I usually do what they say - especially if it's housework, I completely agree with the person above who says teens should help out at home.

But my parents know I'm busy and revising so they don't really ask huge things, so I usually do it.

Bit of a contradiction to your username there

I usually do it unless I forget,

I woke up last week and the was a note asking me to get the washing in off the line,
I only remembered when I heard the rain against my window.

I didn't ask them to bring me up, feed me, give me a shelter, so from my perspective, I'll do whatever they ask me to do as long as it's reasonable. They don't have unreasonable demands anyway. They're parents.

Chores? I did them.
