Model to have abortion so she can star on Big Brother

Wannabe celebrity Josie Cunningham last night confessed the chance of appearing on TV’s Big Brother was worth more than her unborn child’s life.

Puffing on a cigarette and rubbing her baby bump, the controversial model and call girl who will have her abortion at a clinic this week said: “I’m finally on the verge of becoming famous and I’m not going to ruin it now.

“An abortion will further my career. This time next year I won’t have a baby. Instead, I’ll be famous, driving a bright pink Range Rover and buying a big house. Nothing will get in my way.”

Josie, 23, is already 18 weeks pregnant by either an escort agency client or a Premier League footballer..

As someone who is generally pro-choice, and has always been of the view that women should be free to choose what to do with their bodies, I find this deeply disturbing.

What's everyone else's view?

This hideous woman is disgusting, I wish they'd stop giving her press.

Yeah I'm pro choice too but not for this reason! Reminds me of a journal article I read for my abortion exam last year - it gave an example of a woman aborting because she had a holiday booked and wanted to go.

Why not?

Do you and the other people here think these girls would be good mothers ??
Wow.

Because abortion shouldn't be something you use for convenience, or for her pathetic reason of getting famous.

I don't know whether she would be a good mother. I lean towards no, but her irresponsible use of abortion doesn't necessarily mean she would be a bad mother when it comes down to it. I don't think I'm in a place to judge that.

Good for her. She's still within the time period that it's legally allowed.

The very makes me cringe, more so at the moment.

I ask you , and the others;

If we didn't allow abortions do you think;

1. The child would be raised well
2. This wouldn't lead to a greater problem (for example teen pregnancies are much higher in those born from teen mothers)

Yes I know there are some wonderful single and / or teen mothers but often not

3. She won't try to self enduce a pregnancy

4. That adoption / fostering / living in care is a holiday ???

Then why are you in a position to judge her actions now ?

Read my above list.
I'm pro-choice but this is screwed up :/ having said that, I don't really like the idea of her being a mother anyway... Even then though, I don't feel right about it.

From the bottom of the article:

The law

An abortion can be carried out in the first 24 weeks under certain criteria.

It must take place in a hospital or licensed clinic. Two doctors must agree it would cause less damage to the mother's health than going on with pregnancy.

NHS guidelines say women severely impoverished or unable to provide care to the child, can have the procedure.

An abortion should ideally be carried out before 12 weeks.

To, me a good reason as to why not would be that it seems to be borderline illegal
That's awful. People like her just seem to live on another planet regarding morals.

*shrugs* the kid would probably suffer if it was raised by her anyway, she made the right call.
When her career as a "celebrity" ends before it begins, that childs going to be in and out of care while it`s prostitute mother struggles to deal with the inevitable alcoholism and drug-addiction as she ends up as another trainwreck giving kneetremblers down an alleyway so she can get her next fix. That`s no life for a child.

You don't need a valid reason beyond "I won't be suitable"
If you've decided that abortion up until a certain point is permissible because foetuses aren't people and women should have the freedom to decide whether they carry a pregnancy to term in their own body, then the exact reason for an abortion is irrelevant. Any opposition would just be out of a desire to punish women you dislike.

That said, she seems like a waste of oxygen who makes terrible decisions. The law only permits abortion when the mental or physical health of the mother is at risk, but seeing as she blagged the same litmus test to get a boob job she will probably manage it. The publicity associated with the procedure might make a doctor think twice about it, though.
