Hi, I'm stuck on part a putting it into the form required, can anyone help me with it, I've done this so far but I'm not too sure if it is correct?

You made the error early on

Rather than multiplying the 2 brackets together you need to do partial fractions





It is worth you bearing in mind that this idea is WRONG

1x2+5dx=12xln(x2+5)\displaystyle \int \dfrac{1}{x^2+5} dx = \dfrac{1}{2x} \ln (x^2+5)

You can only do this if the fraction at the front of the answer is a constant
