Stoke Bishop halls - the most social one

I want to choose a really buzzy social halls and love being in the mix, and ideally self cater. Which is the most happening halls?
Self catered in Stoke Bishop leaves you with two choices, Durdham and Uni hall. Choose uni hall.

I see that Hyatt Baker has built some self catered too, do you know what the character of the halls are like and whether this might be a wise choice?

If you want maximum buzzing-ness (yes, I know that's not a real word) and social life AND self-catered is vital then don't choose Durdham. All of the halls in Stoke Bishop are sociable and people go to the bar and go clubbing and stuff if that's what you mean or like. But Durdham is known as one of the quieter ones of the bunch.

As for the new Hiatt Baker part, there's some uncertainty as to whether it's going to be integrated or separate to the catered Hiatt Baker i.e. is it going to be pretty similar just with kitchens, or like a completely different hall. If it's the same, it's probably the best choice. If it's different, go for University hall. But obviously there's no way of being sure.

If you fancy a small risk, try the new HB (will be all new rooms and kitchens anyway which is really nice, but likely to be oversubscribed massively), otherwise opt for Uni for a safer choice and more chance of getting your first choice.

Hope that makes sense and helps.

Ps self-catered halls can be really sociable too, but just to let you know that the most inter-building or inter-block socialising that happens in a hall happens in catered halls when everyone uses the communal areas like bar and dining room as places to meet and chat. Catered tends to have more of an open floor/corridor plan, meaning there's more of an open "mingling" attitude adopted by residents, but self-catered people in flats only make most of their in-hall friendships with their own flat and neighbouring flats around them.

As for character by the way, Durdham has some really nice, fun people but the hall, don't get me wrong, but in general tends to be a bit quieter than others. The people I know in Durdham I only know because I met one girl on my course and we introduced both our groups of friends to one another. Perhaps it's the layout, or it's a bit smaller than others, I don't know. HB (the current catered part at least) is pretty loud, and there's 20-24 to a floor so it's pretty sociable. University is same sort of flat layout to Durdham but it's on the social hub in-between HB and Badock and more sociable.
