I'm sorry you've been waiting a while for a reply.
I'm afraid having not done an Edexcel course I can't give any advice about how useful specific books are in relation to the course.

However, as for the guide for 'Animal Farm' my advise would be to look at CGP and York notes both of which are very good, as to which is best you would need to look at them in more detail and decide which better suites your needs.

I use the Collins revision guides for Science (Edexcel) and in my opinion they're brilliant, especially for Biology and Physics. I would watch out for Chemistry though - as I found it lacked information.
