Edexcel: M2 advice

Anyone got any advice on getting 95+UMS for M2.

I find it more difficult than the other Maths exams I am doing.

For those who did get high A's, how did you do it?

Did you just do questions in the book and go through past papers? And are there any websites apart from Exam Solutions that you used to help you.

Would appreciate any advice

Any questions in particular (certain chapters perhaps) that are throwing you? I'm doing this exam in the summer too

In particular chapter 6 IIRC. Its the one on statics with rigid bodies.

How much work have you done for this module so far
It's really hard to guarantee a 95% in any module, because all you need is one tricky or unusual question to mess it up. If you get something odd, use all your standard problem solving techniques - sketching a diagram is essential!
For the rigid body stuff, just keep an eye out for whether it is a framework or lamina.
If you've been using the edexcel Pearson/Heinemann textbook, check out my other post for a list of the many errors it contains!

I find there are generally too crucial steps to answering the statics questions.

1) Take moments about a point where more than one unknown force is acting, such as a hinge or ladder on rough ground.

2) Resolve vertically and horizontally, setting them in equilibrium.

Any other worries, or particular problems I can help with?

Yeah thanks that's good advice.
I'll probably do some questions from the book.

Have you done m1 yet?

Yep, I did June 2013 - it was the only AS module I got 100 UMS in

I thought the moments question was very difficult on that paper, but is there anything you struggle with?

Not at the moment, but if I think of something, I will ask you
