So we agree, I wouldn't say it's racist though because it's not exactly something you can help ... though of course in an ideal world everyone would be open to dating every race, every gender, people with disabilities, just to test whether they liked it or not. But we don't live in an ideal world and nor do we live in one where we can force people to try out sexual things on anything other than their own initiative. Indeed doing so would be most likely to put them off.

So are you suggesting that whether I like blacks or whites is not related to whether I like men or women, or whether I like blondes or redheads, or people order than me or younger than me? It's ALL physical attraction! How can you NOT co-relate the two?!

I don't think it's anything to do with not giving another a chance because we aren't talking about personality here, that's a whole other matter. If I look at a white person and I am attracted to them, and I look at a black person and I am not attracted to them I'm not going to give them another chance for me to find that person attractive, I either do or I don't! They could be a wonderful person who maybe I'll fall in love with one day but if I don't find them attractive I don't find them attractive and that's all there is to it!!! It's nothing to do with having a narrow minded psyche!

You are projecting (Like most white people do) that is when someone realizes that a particular trait applies to them, they attempt to locate that trait in others, so as to alleviate the stigma engendered by the trait in question.

I watched a Channel 4 programme a few years were they asked white folks and people of color what they like about being black, white, or whatever they in fact may be.

For blacks, the answers always have to do with the pride we feel, coming from families who have struggled against the odds, fought injustice, persevered, and maintained dignity in the face of great obstacles.

To be black has internal meaning. Variations on the same theme tend to be expressed by Asians too.

But for whites ? if they come up with anything at all, it is typically something about how nice it is not to have to worry about being racially profiled by police, or how nice it is not to be presumed less competent by employers, or discriminated against when applying for a loan, or looking for a home.

For whites, your whole self-definition, your self worth, your ENTIRE BEING is wrapped up entirely in terms of what and who you are not.

What it means to be white is merely to not be "the other."

And that 'Other' must have a stronger meaning than what you are, yourself.
