What does sulphuric acid do?

What does sulphuric acid test for when you add it to an unknown sample?

Alkali/base.

If you add it, it can become an acid base neutralisation reaction. Hence you produce a salt and water and maybe CO2.

Think about possible precipitates. What insoluble sulfates do you know?
barium sulfate- barium meal... just to make it easier:smile:
