Mean bond Enthalpy vs Enthalpy Change

Hey guys:smile: I've been wondering about this for a while. Are there two different equations for calculating mean bond enthalpy and Enthalpy change.
Is mean bond Enthalpy (Sum of bonds in reactants) - (Sum of bonds in products)
Whereas; Enthalpy change is (Sum enthalpies of products)-(Sum enthalpies of reactants)?
Thankyou:smile:

Yeah you are indeed correct.

Enthalpy for the bond is breaking - making.

There is no ideal equation.

I just use the Hess cycle to work it out.

Thankyou:smile: That clears it all up
I kept getting the right values for Enthalpy but with a different sign lol
