What happens to student loan if I become a citizen of a foreign country?

If I move to another country and become a citizen of that country, do I still have to repay my student loan?

Yes, you have to make special arrangements to repay it. Of course, lots of people dodge it, but the problem is that if you ever again become tax-domiciled in the UK, they can demand the full balance from you on the spot as if it were a proper debt. And you are probably going to be found eventually and put on an international credit blacklist, especially if you shack up in a country with a high amount of British expats and/or a close working relationship between tax departments, so anywhere in the EU and America, or any Commonwealth country, is straight out, especially considering the accelerating trend for cross-border tax co-operation.

Yes, citizenship has nothing do with loans.
