Aqa as french exam Essay Predictions

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can answer my question. If I am resitting both of my AS exams, and say I did better in one last year, will they count that towards my final AS grade? I haven't taken it to A-Level, but I wanted to improve my grade in it from AS.

If you do better, then the better score will count. If not, they'll keep your grade from last year :-)

Anyone know if using idioms is a good idea? I know a good one if an essay for fashion/image comes up but I'm not really sure how welcome it would be

Is it les fringues per chance?

I think it's okay.

Depends what it is. If you probably wouldn't say it in a real conversation ie. sounds too pretentious, then I probably wouldn't use it.

'Être maquillée comme une voiture volée' - to wear too much make up, literally to be made up like a stolen car.
Les fringues is slang for clothes I think?
I might give it a go if it comes up, unless of course I find out that it's not a good idea.

Hmm. Just got to pray the examiner knows the idiom in that case.

Correct

That's what I'm worried about, I can't tell if it's really informal slang or something French people say quite often.

If I see my French teacher beforehand then I'll ask her if it's well known, if not then I'll know to steer clear of idioms!
