Using C3/C4/FP1 stuff in C1/C2 ?

Are we allowed to use things we learn in C3/C4/FP1 in the C1/C2 exams? Sometimes, for example, it can be easier to use the series formulae in FP1 in C1, or maybe the chain rule when differentiating (compared to expanding out the brackets).

EDIT: This is for edexcel

On my board at least, any correct answer and working is given full marks.
Unless the method is specified in the question you can use any mathematically valid method to answer a question.

Someone posted a similar thread a couple of days ago.
My teacher said you can use any advanced method and it will be given credit [for Edexcel], so yes.
